NutriBullet Slow Juicer Review

The masticating NutriBullet Slow Juicer is 9.5 by 7 by 17 inches, taking up a very small amount of counter space. It has a useful reverse function and dishwasher-safe parts.

Performance Comparison

Juice Quality

The NutriBullet Slow Juicer falls into an average performer in all three of our juice tests. The Can't Beet It is thick, foamy, and must be run through the sieve. It has a strong carrot taste with notes of beet and ginger throughout, with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

The Romaine - Apple - Orange offers a consistent, smooth texture and a pleasant sweet orange-celery flavor. While the end result is smooth, there are lots of unblended chunks of romaine caught in the blades.

The Sunset Blend tastes strongly of orange and carrot. It has no issue with harder produce like carrots, but they must be cut into very small pieces to fit in the narrow chute, but the overall flavor and thinness are great.

Soft Produce

Like Juice Quality, the NutriBullet Slow Juicer performs slightly above average during our Soft Produce testing. Juicing cucumber and celery produces barely any pulp and moderate foam. Because of the small chute, you must slice cucumbers in half in order to fit.

Our orange test produces a yield of 139.5 milliliters after straining, which is on the lower end of the orange juice yield for our test suite. There's not much pulp, but the flavor is slightly pithy rather than orangey. The apple juice is pretty tasty but only moderately smooth after being strained. The overall texture is very inconsistent.

Hard Produce

It is worth noting that, by the time we made it to our hard produce test, we began to notice small remnants of past fruit and vegetable juices making their way into the hard product despite the routine cleaning cycles taking place between each juice.

Carrots and sweet potato juice are thick with an even thicker foam that requires straining. Our beet test offers a decent post-strain yield of 157 milliliters, but the end result is rather pulpy with an uneven texture.

Leafy Greens

During our wheat grass testing, the NutriBullet Slow Juicer yields a whopping 28.6 milliliters, about an ounce — some of the most efficient yields in our test suite.

While the Slow Juicer kale juice is not as impressive as its wheatgrass shot, it still performs above average. The foam is a little thick and chunky, but once strained, the juice is more of a water-like consistency. Unfortunately, spinach juice is very thick and full of visible chunks — very undesirable.

Cleaning

The NutriBullet Slow Juicer is very difficult to clean. Even after using the brush and hot water spray from the sink to clean the filter, stubborn bits of debris still cling to it. Even repeated scrubbing and piping hot water spray doesn't clean it fully. The only way to fully clean it is by soaking it in hot water for at least 20 minutes and then scrubbing it.

Should You Buy the NutriBullet Slow Juicer?

The NutriBullet Slow Juicer has some good qualities, like its ability to offer a high-yield wheatgrass shot. That said, it falls somewhere around or below average throughout most of our testing. It is not a crazy expensive juicer, but there are options in our test suite that perform much higher across the board and cost less.

What Other Juicers Should You Consider?

Speaking of higher-performing juicers at a lower price, the Breville Juice Fountain Plus is a great centrifugal option, perfect for harder produce like sweet potatoes, carrots, and beets. If leafy greens are more your speed, then the Omega Nutrition Center is the juicer for you; however, it's quite pricey. The Kuvings Whole Slow C7000S is a great vertical juicer for those with limited counter space, but the price tag may also deter you.
